Saltbush Squad you are on a roll, and we are loving your goal-kicking ways. You’re also super close to the end of the Cool, Calm, and Connected Challenge and we want to make sure that the momentum of reaching your goal in its entirety is achieved.

So, how do we do this? Well, we have all heard about motivation and discipline, two words that are widely used interchangeably within the health and fitness space. We’re going to look at them both more closely and distinguish the difference between the two, and how both can be extremely useful if used correctly.

Motivation is defined as a reason/s for acting or behaving in a particular way, usually the reason ‘why’ behind your actions. Discipline on the other hand, refers to what you do, by using order, obedience or conducting a certain pattern of behaviour or self-control. Motivation is that initial burst of inspiration that we get, we’re all excited and pumped up ready to achieve, and discipline is what keeps you moving towards that goal after the original novelty has faded.

Much like your journey with us on the Cool, Calm and Connected Challenge, whether your goal is fitness, lifestyle or wellness orientated, something motivates you to change and in the early stages you are eager to take on the task.

Over time, however, that motivation can fade, and that’s ok, that is totally normal, it happens to all of us. This is where discipline kicks in though, we must tap into that discipline to keep going. It’s what helps push you through when the motivation fades.

As mentioned earlier, both are commonly referred to, and both have their place, and this blog aims to help you distinguish between them to make sure they can be harnessed and used optimally.

Motivation is a fantastic thing, it inspires us to make changes in our lives, take on new challenges, and when motivated it makes it a bit easier for us to keep practising the new skills or habits that we have chosen to pursue. RUN WITH IT.

When motivation is high, take full advantage of it. Inevitably, and unfortunately, that motivation will slip away, BUT, when that purpose and energy are high, that is the time to lean into building those habits and creating that discipline around them to then help ensure your long-term success and achievement of your goal/s.

So, the message and key takeaways from today’s blog are, Motivation is temporary, and discipline preserves. You have the choice, do you want to just rely on motivation to guide you, or are you willing to take that inspiration of motivation and help you cultivate the building blocks to create habits and discipline that will ultimately help you gain control over your direction and achieving your goals?

We at Saltbush Stretch know you can do BOTH! We know how hard you have worked towards your goals, and we would love to see you continue to the end, achieving all you have set out to achieve and creating the life you want to lead 😊.

As always, we are here to help you, so please feel free to reach out to us on the Facebook Private page for the Saltbush Squad, whether it be to us or those who are also on the same journey as you on the Cool, Calm, and Connected Challenge. We are in this together and can achieve fabulous things because we are strong bush babes.

Big love. Caz xx
