Hey Squad Babes,

As you know we recently finished our Cool, Calm and Connected Challenge, which was a 30-day movement and mindfulness challenge to keep get us through the winter months, encourage motivation and feel connected as a community (which we all need when it’s hard AF to get out of bed in -1 degree weather).

This Saltbush Journal write-up is all about the commitment to the challenge and goals element of the challenge!

Caz and I wanted to look for someone over the duration of the challenge who showed dedication, commitment and just all round Saltbush vibes!

Our challenges are so much more than just movement…it’s about feeling good within yourself, feeling connected as a community and setting aside that time for YOU! Because we know that we can’t pour from an empty cup!

You all did such an amazing job in the challenge (AKA all of our Squad babes), and I hope that you are carrying the Saltbush VIBES into your everyday life (even though the challenge has finished)!

Hannah Hurley who was the lucky winner of the challenge, who Caz and I picked (which was very hard to pick)! So get to know one of your Squad babes a little better and Hannah, we hope you LOVE your new Merry People boots!

Name, location, where you grew up: My name is Hannah Hurley and I grew up between Esk and Hampton in South East QLD but currently live in Roma in South West QLD.

What do you love the most about living in the bush? The people, the simplicity and the wide open spaces!

What did you love most about the Cool, Calm and Connected Challenge? I loved the collaboration between Em, Caz and Sal to inspire us all, regardless of where we all live! The ability to chat to them throughout the challenge and share photos and videos kept me accountable and motivated. I also loved the weekly planners and updates through email and instagram!

Yoga or Pilates?
Pilates!

Hardest part of living in the bush? Being so far away from friends, family and the beach.

Hardest part of the challenge? Allocating time to complete each day initially seemed hard, but after I developed a habit in the first week, it became easier. Working shift work can be tricky, but the best thing about this challenge was it could be done any time of the day!

What do you do for work? I am a nurse at the Roma Hospital.

How has Saltbush Stretch impacted you and your daily life? Saltbush Stretch has reminded me how important it is to prioritise time in your day for you, to do something that makes you feel better. It created motivation that quickly lead to discipline which I think is so important when sometimes we are quick to give up or treat ourselves! It’s definitely created a sense of calm amongst everything else happening in life!

Favourite recipe from the challenge? Sal’s raspberry and white chocolate muffins!

Coffee order in town? Iced latte

Favourite active wear brand and why? Lorna Jane! I love their colours, quality and being able to get most things on sale!

What would you love to see at Saltbush Stretch? I’m very new to Saltbush Stretch! So I would love to continue seeing the down-to-earth videos filmed exactly where they are. I cannot wait to do another challenge, and think four a year is a great amount to keep it fun and exciting!

Fave quote? “You have everything you need to be who you are supposed to be” – L Engelhardt.

I also try to live by “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” and most recently… “If not you, then who?”.

Hannah! You are beautiful and I know that all of The Squad babes would have loved getting to know another bush babe a little more! Thank you for sharing a little slice of your life with us and we can’t WAIT to see what colour Merry People boots you choose!

Let’s hope our paths cross one day, but in the mean time, I’ll see you on the screen!

Big love. Em xx
