Words by Em Armstrong

When Saltbush Stretch started to grow, I had to ask myself a question “What’s the level of growth I’m seeking for my business?” and I didn’t really know…but I wanted a small team, with a big heart…Just like a little bush community has that same feeling small, connected but full of heart. Our team is full, the gate is shut and THIS IS US! Myself, Caz, Han, Mol and now we welcome mat Pilates babe Laura!

I have been wetting my pants with excitement to finally introduce the spunky, fabulous, and queen herself Laura! Laura is a bushie, just like the rest of us and I honestly can’t wait for you to meet her (on the mat) and on socials, emails and anywhere else we are all connected these days…

Laura is a firecracker and I LOVE IT! She is a ray of sunshine on and off the mat and she honestly fits so well into our team and I know you will love her too.

I hope you enjoy this write-up about Laura and please make her feel welcome…Laura will bring her first Pilates flow to you next week and I can’t wait for us to all join her on the mat.

Biggest love to you Laura and just so bloody blessed with the best.

Big love. Em xx

MEET LAURA

I am Laura, a vibrant and loud gal from the bush in Yeoval, NSW.  I am currently living in Parkes, NSW working as an Allied Health assistant.

I grew up on a property with my mum being the main cowgirl, grazing and trading cattle (GIRL POWER), as for manpower…dad is the rock of our household. He’s the man I go to when I need help with anything mechanical and a hug cause he’s a bit softy!!!

As a child I was also his little “so” being taught how to drive a bobcat, tractor and all different cars because “Laura you never know when your going to need to drive one the get from A to B”. Well can’t say I’ve used it yet but hey I’m only 21, still have a lifetime in ahead of me. Mum and dad are both loving, strong and kind parents and have always taught me……

I had always been taught that I can do anything I aspire to do so when I started swimming at the ripe gangly age of 4 I knew movement was for me.

“I didn’t go to the gym – I used a crowbar and cans”

When I was about 15 everyone started going to a gym to move their body and all I had was a crowbar and some cans from the pantry. So I started doing crazy movements to make me feel euphoric. I also started running and walking with the dogs on a dangerous pothole snake invested dirt road. From here my love of Pilates FLOURISHED.

To add into the mix when I was 6 months my mum did what all mothers do and try their child on solids….mine was yogurt. Well that lead to having an anaphylactic reaction to dairy and later finding out eggs and nuts were thrown into the mix.

From this scare (for my parents more than me) my WHOLE family’s life changed. There were very very limited options….pear and rice were my best buds for all of my childhood. This lead to my desire to learn more about nutrition and the impact food has on your physical and mental health.

This is how I became a nutritionist…

I went to university in Canberra and about 3 months into my degree I stumbled into a relationship with an old school gentleman living 3 hours away from me. You could say we locked eyes over a bottle of whiskey hahah. In reality, it was all over social media, me playing hard to get and him being a persistent man getting me onto our first date…. All is history

Other things I love…

I love a chicken Schnitty, chips and salad with gravy (with 3 pepper sachets in it. I know don’t come at me it’s a thing haha). I love having a good bevy driving around the property checking cattle and seeing the sunset. And I also love:

I’m the youngest in the Saltbush team, but I’m ready to BRING IT!

When Em approached me I nearly fell to the floor. Like me??? YOU WANT ME???? It was definitely the biggest highlight of the year for me. After doing our photo shoot a few weeks ago I soon found out that Em and I are born a day apart (with about 10 years in age hehe). Meeting the gals was so amazing, they brought me in like mother ducks (because yes I’m the youngest). I’m so excited to show you some insane HEAT on the mat and get to know all of you Squad babes!!!!

So let’s get cracking babes, catch you on the mat.

And you can show Laura some love over on Instagram and follow her journey with us at @balanceinsideandout

I hope you are as excited as I am to welcome Laura into the Saltbush teaching family and please make her feel welcome! Stay tuned for Laura’s first flow in our Weekly Planner next week.

Big love. Em xx
