This Mother’s Day I wanted to showcase some of our AMAZING Mummas of the bush! Without the women and mothers in the bush, we wouldn’t get fed and watered, we wouldn’t have clean undies in the drawer, we wouldn’t make the school bus in time and we definitely wouldn’t make Saturday sport!
So, I hope you enjoy reading up about these amazing Mummas in our community, via a three-part series in The Saltbush Journal:
- Real Bush Mums - Meet Samantha Coote (pregnant mumma)
- Real Bush Mums - Meet Amy Fay (girl mumma - kids under 5)
- And this write up, Real Bush Mums - Meet Sarah Houston (boy mumma – kids at school)
Have a read of all three or pick whatever stage of mum life you might be at, because there is normally someone else out there in the Saltbush community going through a similar journey with you.
And remember…wish yourself Happy Mother’s Day! Because we are all KICK ASS!
Big love. Em xx
Name and location?
Sarah Houston or Glas. Benduck, just west of Hay, NSW
How many kids do you have & what are their ages?
4 boys! Jim 16, Archie 14, Harry 11 and Bill 10
Best gift you could get for Mother’s Day?
Some help around the house to finish a few projects!
Best part of being a mumma?
So many good parts (and some bloody tricky bits too!). I love the company of my boys! It’s always very lonely on the occasional times I don’t have a full house or a car full! I spend a lot of time on the side of a sporting field watching the boys …. It’s my happy place!
Hardest part of being a Mumma?
The logistics (and that they are always hungry!)
If you had a weekend kid free what would you do?
Have a Sunday session with mates … there is nothing better!
Are you a full time Mumma (bloody queen) or do you have work as well? (also bloody queen)
Both! I work full time but have the lovely bonus of school holidays!
Has Saltbush Stretch helped in any way in being a Mumma?
I love finding some time to myself everyday day! I’m a runner, so Saltbush Stretch is so good for lots of parts of my body! As well as my mind!
Yoga or Pilates? What’s your fave?
Pilates! I do a 20-minute session in my PJs in front of the news before the boys get up every morning!
Advice you could give to another Saltbush Mumma out there who might be struggling?
Take time for yourself and do what works for you! It does get easier!
Drink of choice (at smoko time and after the kids go to sleep)?
Water and then gin after dark!
Favourite quote:
Make it happen!
A big thanks to Glas for sharing a little snippet of herself and what it’s like to me a mumma in the bush! I think we need to see a pic of you in your PJ’s in the morning doing a Saltbush Pilates flow haha.
But if you want to join Glas and hundreds of other bush mumma’s on the mat with myself (Em) or Caz (queen of the heat)…Head to the link below and treat your body, mind a soul this Mother’s Day!
Big love. Em xx
